Oh water, thou destroyer of homes with your floods and your seepage. You soak into wood and rust away metal. What we work so hard to build up you mindlessly tear down without a second thought causing untold water damage Utah. Forgive me for personifying you who are so clearly not human. You are a force of nature and as such not only do you not possess a second thought, you never had a first thought to precede it.
What can be done in the face of such a mindless destroyer of all our works? Certainly we must take steps to avoid water damage Utah in the first place. For example, we must not build our dwelling places on a flood plane where we know water is want to travel. Certainly we must take steps to mitigate water damage one it happens by cleaning up the mess and drying the place out. Certainly we can purchase a separate flood insurance policy as we know well that home owner policies typically do not cover this contingency.
Our civilization is a proud one and we must strive to keep it from declining with all our hearts. Water cannot defeat us so long as we do not give in to it. Let the fire in our hearts continue to burn brightly. Never shall we let the forces of wetness douse this most precious flame. It is known that man’s life on this earth is fleeting and full of misery and yet we stubbornly persist and resist the forces which desire to break us. Perhaps many generations from now the light of vitality will grow dim and go out. But that time is not now and therefore we will stand proud in the face of the destructive power of water. Let it do its worst and when it is done we will build it up again.
Soon after I made the decision to join Scentsy I came in contact with the Adored Scentsy Bar. According to the description of the Adored Scentsy Bar available on the www.dreams-unlimited.com website this product is, “[f]un, flirtatious, cherry black plum and a warm whiff of sandalwood [which together] spin a succulent springtime yarn.” I must admit that I whole heartedly agree with this product description. Upon taking in the vapors of the Adored Scentsy Bar for the first time I did indeed experience the elation that I believe the words “fun” and “flirtatious” allude to. Moreover, my olfactory senses did in fact take in the aroma of “cherry black plum” along with a very distinctive “whiff of sandalwood.”
Where this product description runs off the rails as far as I am concerned is in its last five words. These words of which I speak (or write to be accurate) are the ones which claim the Adored Scentsy Bar “spin[s] a succulent springtime yarn.” To my knowledge a “yarn” in this context should be taken to mean “story” as in, “he spins a good yarn” meaning “he tells a good story.” I suppose I can imagine how a scent can tell a good story in that the scent describes a scene or evokes a memory that can be associated with a story line. However, I have a hard time understanding how this springtime yarn spun by the Adored Scentsy Bar is “succulent.”
Don’t get me wrong. I understand that this product description was written by another person who made the decision to join Scentsy like me. I imagine they are sitting in a writing room with some other people tasked with the responsibility to devise hundreds of product descriptions for hundreds of Scentsy products. This description may have been the last one of the day written after his or her mind was spent. If this is the case then I can forgive the use of “succulent” to describe a “springtime yarn.”
